St. Anne
School’s Acceptable Use Policy
Internet
access is available to students and teachers at
With
access to people all over the world comes the availability of material that may
not be considered to be of educational value in school setting. Available
precautions will be taken to restrict access to controversial materials.
However, it is impossible to control all materials and an industrious user may
discover this information, but the valuable information and interaction far
outweigh the possibility that users may procure material that is not consistent
with the educational goals of the project.
Appropriate
use should always reflect academic honesty, high ethical and moral
responsibility. Students are responsible
for good behavior on school computer networks just as they are in a classroom
or hallway. Communications on the network are often public in nature. General
school rules for behavior and communications apply.
The
network is provided to conduct research and communicate with others. Access to
network services is given to students who act in a considerate and responsible
manner. Parent permission is required. Access is a privilege, based on
responsibility – not a right.
Responsible
users do not: send or display offensive messages or pictures; use obscene
language; harass, insult or attack others; damage computers, computer systems
or computer networks; violate copyright laws or make unnecessary printouts.
Violations
may result in a loss of access as well as other disciplinary or legal actions
as found in the student code of Christian Behavior.
